Bring Learning to Life at the South Yorkshire Transport Museum

A visit to the museum offers pupils a unique opportunity to explore South Yorkshire’s transport heritage in an engaging, hands-on environment.

Following a short welcome and introduction, classes are divided into three smaller groups for a guided tour of the museum. Each session lasts approximately 30 minutes, with groups rotating to ensure every area of the museum is explored. This structure keeps students engaged, encourages interaction, and allows for a more personal learning experience.

Our sessions can support topics such as:

  • Local history

  • Industrial development

  • Design and technology

  • Engineering and mechanics

  • Social change through transport

School visits are free of charge, reflecting our commitment as a volunteer-run charity to support education within our community. While there is no admission fee, donations are always gratefully received to help us preserve and maintain our historic collection.
